It advocates for First Nations and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and supports their aspirations to be reflected in Council decisions, activities, and partnerships.Key responsibilities of the position include:Leads and delivers strategic First Nations initiatives and action plans aligned with Council priorities and long-term outcomes.Builds culturally respectful partnerships and engagement with First Nations communities, the Aboriginal Advisory Panel, and internal and external stakeholders.Provides expert advice, insights, and high-quality reporting to support informed decision-making by Senior Leaders, Executive Leadership, and Elected Members.Identifies emerging issues and opportunities, translating complex cultural, political, and community perspectives into practical policies, programs, and advocacy.Ensures strong governance, compliance, and effective program delivery, including administrative support, financial management, and coordination of Council and AAP activities.The successful applicant will have:Demonstrated experience in community development with First Nations communities, applying inclusive and contemporary practices to improve outcomes.Strong cultural and political acumen, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder perspectives and broker effective solutions.Experience delivering community-based programs and initiatives, including supporting volunteers and working with advisory panels or similar bodies.Sound understanding of governance principles, Council services, and the broader local government operating environment.High-level knowledge of local First Nations communities, culture and heritage, and relevant networks, agencies, and resources across government and community sectors.A relevant tertiary qualification in Community Development is desirable.A Current Australian Driver’s License is essential.Current DHS screening or willingness to obtain prior to commencementWorking with Children Check Aged Care Sector Employment CheckVulnerable Persons Related Employment CheckChild Safe Environments Training, or willingness to undertake upon commencement is essential.More information can be found on the Position Description located below.This is a Level 7 position which has a current salary of $124,098 - $131,904 (plus Super).Confidential enquiries can be directed to Pippa Webb, Community Wellbeing Manager on pippa.webb@cityofpae.sa.gov.au or 0407 589 914.
