Community and Sports Program Officer

This is a full time, fixed term position (August 2019-November 2022)MOA Level 4 ($79,266 - $85,094) A once in a career opportunity exists for an experienced, innovative, and enthusiastic individual to play a significant role in the opening and development of Council’s new ‘The Lights’ Community and Sports Centre at Lightsview. As our Community and Sports Program Officer your role is role is to create, lead, partner, facilitate, support and advocate for ways in which the community can be actively involved with programs, activities and opportunities delivered by or at the Centre.  You’ll ensure these facilities provide a vibrant range of inclusive opportunities for our community to connect, learn, and participate in activities that build physical health and enhance individual and community well-being. You’ll be part of a team that will pride itself on providing an outstanding experience for the community, customers, stakeholders and visitors and establishing the benchmark for indoor community facilities. You will:Drive programs, activities, services and other opportunities that support The Lights Community and Sports Centre’s vision and key objectives for the community.Contribute to a vibrant place where people connect, learn and participate in activities that improve their physical and mental wellbeing.Provide an outstanding experience for the community, customers, stakeholders and visitors of the centre.Build lasting and collaborative relationships with Centre stakeholders and the community. To be successful in this role you’ll be an exceptional and effective individual with:relevant qualifications and / or comparable experience in coordinating programs and activities within diverse recreation, sport and leisure facilities,able to communicate effectively and have proven experience in engaging and working with diverse stakeholders over time;understand the principles of community development and be experienced in working with people from diverse communities and cultures;possess strong attention to detail, a positive attitude and ability to both build and work in a team environment. More information can be found on the Position Description located below.
