About Us
At the City of Port Adelaide Enfield (PAE), we’re building a welcoming, liveable city, made by people.
Our focus is on community, our economy, environmental sustainability and building high-quality places for people to enjoy. We’re on an ambitious trajectory, but our organisation is up for the challenge.
At PAE, we’re involved in all sorts of things - major construction through to environmental management, organising events, social infrastructure planning, and library services. We are proud of offering a wide range of accessible services and programs to our community.
You don’t need experience in local government for this role - we’re looking for transferrable skills and a great attitude.
Now’s a great time to be part of PAE.
About the Roles
We're reshaping our Environmental Health service to be more agile, risk-based and outcomes focused. This is an exciting time to join a team that embraces innovation, values fresh ideas and is committed to finding better ways to serve our growing community.
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will help protect and promote community health by providing professional advice, undertaking inspections and investigations, and supporting compliance with relevant public and environmental health requirements. Depending on your classification, you will work with an appropriate level of support or autonomy while delivering practical, education-focused and proportionate regulatory outcomes. If you are still completing your studies, your duties will initially focus on food safety inspections, with your responsibilities growing as you complete your qualification and gain further experience and knowledge.
What you will do
About You
You will hold, or be working towards, an appropriate qualification in environmental health and bring a genuine commitment to protecting community wellbeing. You will communicate respectfully, exercise sound judgement and take a constructive approach to education and compliance.
For the graduate opportunity, you may be completing an environmental health qualification or be a graduate who is ready to learn, welcomes guidance and is keen to build confidence in a supportive team environment.
For the skilled officer opportunity, you will bring demonstrated environmental health experience, sound regulatory judgement and the ability to independently manage complex or sensitive matters while supporting consistent team outcomes.
